Overview
The ABB LS25 is a high-performance in-situ laser gas analyzer designed for continuous, non-contact measurement of gas concentrations directly within industrial ducts, stacks, and process lines. Utilizing advanced Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS) technology, the LS25 delivers fast, highly selective gas measurements without the need for sample extraction systems.
Unlike traditional extractive analysers, the LS25 measures gases directly in the process stream, eliminating issues associated with sample transport, conditioning, and maintenance while providing exceptional measurement reliability and response time.
The LS25 employs ABB’s proven single-line spectroscopy measuring principle. A temperature-stabilized laser transmitter projects a beam across the process gas stream to a receiver mounted on the opposite side of the stack or duct. The analyzer measures the absorption of a specific wavelength by the target gas and calculates the concentration with exceptional accuracy.
Key benefits of this approach include:
- No sample extraction required
- No cross-sensitivity from other gases
- Fast response times
- High measurement accuracy
- Direct in-process measurement
- Automatic compensation for pressure and temperature variations
- Key Features
- True In-Situ Measurement
The LS25 measures gases directly within the process, avoiding common issues associated with traditional extractive systems such as:
- Sample loss
- Condensation
- Delayed response
- Filter blockages
- Heated line maintenance
- Exceptional Selectivity
The TDLAS technology focuses on a single, gas-specific absorption line in the near-infrared spectrum, virtually eliminating interference from other process gases.
Ultra-Low Detection Limits
The LS25 provides highly sensitive measurements across a wide range of concentrations, making it suitable for both emissions monitoring and critical process control applications.
Predictive Maintenance Support
The analyser continuously monitors optical transmission across the measurement path and can provide early warning of contamination or alignment issues before they impact measurement performance.
Measured Gas Components
Depending on the application and laser configuration, the LS25 can measure a variety of industrial gases including:
- Oxygen (O₂)
- Carbon Monoxide (CO)
- Carbon Dioxide (CO₂)
- Methane (CH₄)
- Ammonia (NH₃)
- Hydrogen Sulphide (H₂S)
- Water Vapour (H₂O)
- Sulphur Dioxide (SO₂)
- Ozone (O₃)
